Review of Wiltshire Eating Disorder Outpatient Service
15th May 2024

Tori made me feel at ease even with my anxiety. She listens to how I’m feeling and she involves me in all the decision making. She’s presented me with all the appropriate information and evidence to help me recover.

Suggested improvements
The only problem I’ve had is the waiting list length from referral

Review of Salisbury CAMHS

That I was listened too and they replied to emails quickly.

Suggested improvements
With my eating disorder they didn’t help me get back to normal eating, they just focused on the weight and made me feel inferior because now im doing 1 session every 2-3 weeks and still can’t eat normally I always think of calories and nutrients. So instead of focusing on my weight focus on my mental being aswell. Also they don’t take in account for money when we outgrow our clothes that we don’t fit in anymore.

Review of Chiltern Crisis and Home Treatment Team
15th May 2024

I found my time with the crisis team incredibly frustrating and at times I wondered if the care I was receiving could even be classed as such. One of the individuals I spoke to acted unprofessionally with regards to the fact I was transgender and, despite insisting multiple times that he had treated transgender patients before, elected to refer to me at one point with my full previous name and with incorrect pronouns. There was also very little care given in bringing up my prior attempts at suicide in a tactful and non-triggering manner, and at the end of my time with the service I was essentially told that there was no support they could give me as, despite the fact that there was no doubt I was in a crisis, my issue was "too deeply rooted in trauma" to be treatable.

Suggested improvements
there could be improvements to how transgender patients are treated including better training on what is or isn't appropriate to say to someone who is transgender. Efforts could be made to also teach crisis workers about ways to bring up sensitive subjects without causing more distress to patients, and having better structures in place overall to ensure that those with more complex issues aren't left unsupported by both community and crisis mental health teams. Efforts could also be made to ensure communication about upcoming appointments isn't communicated too late, as oftentimes I'd be contacted by phone at random times of the day to ask whether I would be able to come in for an appointment. Clear communication would also be imperative, as frequently I was told I would be speaking with a clinician only to find I was speaking to someone who was only qualified to perform a risk assessment.
